The Knobby Anemone has numerous long, flowing tentacles that are translucent and gray, brown, or green in color. The tentacles taper to a point and are covered with small, densely packed knobs. The oral disc is usually hidden beneath the tentacles.
This Anemone is usually found alone, living in small crevices or under rocks in rubble areas. It is often only seen when its tentacles are extended, and it is cautious, quickly retracting its tentacles when disturbed. The anemone captures prey, including small shrimp and other invertebrates, with its stinging tentacles. It has a mild sting.
