The Solitary Sponge Hydroid has a single, upright polyp with a pinkish body. Its many long, thin, see-through tentacles spread outward and do not curl at the tips.
This Hydroid grows attached to sponges and remains fixed in one place. It uses its tentacles to capture food from the water. Contact can cause a strong stinging sensation.
