This Colonial Animal is made up of small swimming zooids arranged in a spiral. Zooids are individual units that function together as a single organism. Its thin tentacles feature large feeding structures and stinging red tentilla, which are tiny, thread-like structures used to capture prey.

Spiral Siphonophores are difficult to identify to the species level without detailed examination. They have a long, slender appearance and can be hard to notice while swimming. They drift in the water column, hunting with long tentacles lined with stinging cells that inject venom upon contact. Divers, and especially snorkelers, should approach with caution.
