This Blenny has a noticeable small spot just below its eye and often a larger blotch at the front of the dorsal fin. The eyes have alternating red and gray spokes. Males have small orange spots on the head and upper body, while females display groups of dark brown blotches along the upper body.

The Oyster Blenny can be found in shallow waters, especially on pier pillars, often inside empty shells, including Oyster shells.
