This Blenny has a body covered with bright red and orange spots outlined in black and blue, creating a mosaic-like pattern. It has dark bands on its body and a dark blotch behind its eye. Large adults have large branched cirri above their eyes.
The Tessellated Blenny can be found in shallow waters. It lives in Barnacle Shells on pier pilings or buoys, typically staying inside its shell with only its head visible. It is shy and quickly retreats when disturbed.
