This Blenny has a long, slender, pale brown or white body with pale dots and a narrow mid-lateral stripe, sometimes broken into blotches. It has a pike-like snout. Males have an elevated dorsal fin, often marked with a black spot encircled by white and an orange blotch. During courtship, males display a yellow face.
The Yellowface Pikeblenny lives in small groups in sandy or rubble-covered areas, often using empty tubes as shelter. It is shy and quickly retreats into its hiding place when disturbed.
