Grooved Brain Coral forms rounded colonies with twisting valleys and wide ridges. The ridges have deep grooves that can make a single ridge appear as two. The valleys curve in multiple directions and often connect to each other. Colors range from tan to yellow-brown or grayish-brown. Tentacle tips may be visible inside the narrow valleys during the day.
This Coral is most often found on the mid-depth reef. It grows in areas with steady water movement and can take on different shapes and patterns depending on the colony.
