This Coral grows into massive, rounded domes or boulder shapes with a smooth, dimpled surface. Its surface is covered with tiny, pale, round pits that are evenly spaced. The coral's color can range from golden brown to gray, and the pits do not have darker centers.
The Massive Starlet Coral is often found in shallow reef areas. It grows slowly but can become quite large. It can live a long time and tolerates warmer water better than many other corals, making it important for reef recovery after damage. Although it can be affected by coral diseases (especially dark-spot syndrome), it often shows greater resilience than many other corals.
