This Coral grows as a single, slender stalk that coils or spirals. Its surface is covered with tiny tentacles that create a fuzzy appearance. Its color can range from yellow and green to brown and reddish tones, and its appearance changes in low light.
Wire Coral can be found on deep reef walls. It often stands out as the most visible living thing on these walls. Its tiny polyps open at night and catch plankton with sticky mucus nets. The branches of Wire Coral provide habitat for small Copepods and Wire Coral Shrimp.
