Yellow Pencil Coral grows in tight clusters made of many short, rounded branches that resemble small pencils. The branches have blunt tips and the colonies may look soft or fuzzy when the polyps are stretched out. Colors range from pale yellow to bright yellow and the branches break easily.

This Coral may spread over wide, flat sections of the reef, and its polyps are usually open throughout the day.
