This Eel has a thin body covered in large pale spots, sometimes with yellow centers. Its head has smaller, brighter yellow spots.
The Sharptail Eel lives in shallow sandy areas, seagrass beds, and rubble areas. It hunts during the day and is sometimes followed by fish searching for food. Using its pointed tail, it burrows into the sand. It is not shy and often allows divers to get close.
