The Dwarf Frogfish is very small. Its color is usually yellow or beige, and it is sometimes greenish. Its body has fine speckles and may also have larger spots or smudges. A spot near the rear base of its second dorsal fin is usually dark. This spot is sometimes ringed. Small brown spots may appear on its first soft dorsal ray and near the middle of the base of its dorsal fin. Its lure is short with a branched tip.
The Dwarf Frogfish can be found in shallow sandy areas, among rocky rubble, and also on the reef.
