This Goby has a gray to reddish-brown translucent body with small dark speckles and white spots. Two faint white bars are located below its eye, and it has a small mouth with tusk-like teeth.
The Tusked Goby lives within sponges, such as the Black Ball Sponge, and is often hidden in openings. It is shy but may allow a close approach by divers before retreating deeper into the sponge.
