The Porkfish often forms large groups, but on Bonaire it is a rare sight, usually seen alone on the reef. It is active at night, moving to sandy bottoms or seagrass beds to feed on a wide variety of small invertebrates such as mollusks and crustaceans. It gets its name from the grunting sound it can make.
