The Flameback Angelfish has a dark blue body with a yellow to orange head, neck, and upper back. This bright color continues into its dorsal fin. A thin blue ring surrounds its eye, and the outer edges of its dorsal and anal fins are bright blue.
The Flameback Angelfish stays around coral structures and rubble. It often darts in and out of holes. It is shy and may quickly hide in a crevice when approached, then return after some time.
