Longsnout Butterflyfish

The Longsnout Butterflyfish has a long, pointed snout and a body that is split between two main colors. The upper half is a light orange, which darkens to brown and black along the fins, while the lower half is a contrasting white. A dark bar runs from the top of its head down through its eye.

This Butterflyfish is shy and solitary but sometimes forms monogamous pairs to breed. It is mostly seen in deep reef crevices and uses its long snout to probe into cracks and holes to find food. It eats a variety of invertebrates, such as small shrimp, sea urchins, and worms.
