The Pincushion Doris has a small, long, oval body with a rounded front. Its body is translucent yellow to yellow-gray. Raised, club-shaped bumps cover its back in rows. The bumps can look thorny and are joined by a loose network of ridges. The rhinophores are yellow with white tips.
The Pincushion Doris was known on Bonaire as Yellowish Doris or Yellow Bumpy Doris, but these are not accepted names.
