This Porcupinefish has long spines on its head and a body covered in small dark spots, but its fins do not have spots. Its color ranges from olive to brown, with a dark band running across the eyes. Its eyes have bluish-green specks.
The Balloonfish is shy and moves away when a diver approaches. It can inflate its body when it feels threatened.
