This Cornetfish has a long body with an elongated snout and an upturned mouth. A thin filament extends from its tail. Its color ranges from brownish-gray to greenish-brown, with light blue spots and dashes running along the body. The fins are set far back, close to the tail.
The Bluespotted Cornetfish can be found swimming over shallow seagrass beds. It tends to be cautious around divers and usually stays at a distance.
