This Porcupinefish has small, dark spots covering its entire body, including the fins. Its color ranges from beige to brown, gradually fading to white on the belly. The many spines on its body usually lie flat against it.
The Porcupinefish stays near sheltered areas like caves and crevices but also swims in open water. It moves away when approached too closely and inflates its body when threatened.
