This Tilefish has a long, pale body that ranges from white to turquoise, sometimes with a light green tint. Its arched tail features a dark blotch near the upper center, its head has blue markings, and the tail often has a yellow hue.
The Sand Tilefish builds burrows in sandy areas using bits of rubble and stays close to the entrance. It is wary and quickly retreats into its burrow when approached.
