The Sharksucker has a dark stripe along its body, bordered by thin white lines, with a thin white edge on its tail. Larger adults become more yellow, with the stripe remaining only on the head while the white lines fade. A specialized disc on its head allows it to attach to hosts.
The Sharksucker is often found attached to large marine animals like sharks, rays, turtles, and big fish. While it is not afraid of divers, it may occasionally try to attach itself to them. This is harmless and can be easily removed.
