This Pufferfish has a white to pale yellow tail with dark edges. Its upper body is dark or light brown, fading to white or yellow underneath, with small blue spots scattered across the head and body. Thin blue lines extend from the eyes and appear on the mouth and the base of the tail.

The Sharpnose Puffer is not shy and can be approached closely. However, when in danger, it inflates its body.
