This Trunkfish has a body covered in small white spots, with a pale central area featuring honeycomb-like markings. It has no spines above the eyes or near the back. Juveniles are dark with large pale yellow spots that fade to white as they mature.
The Smooth Trunkfish is usually alone but sometimes seen in pairs. It is not shy and often allows divers to get close.
