Spanish Hogfish

Spanish Hogfish, Juvenile, Newly Settled

Newly Settled marine organisms have just arrived on the reef. They are still small and vulnerable and may not yet resemble adults.

This Hogfish has a yellow body with a purple-blue upper forebody. Some individuals may show more brown or dark blue tones instead of the usual coloration.

Juvenile Spanish Hogfish act as cleaners, picking off parasites and dead tissue from larger fish.
