This Sea Star has a thick body with five short, triangular arms. Knobby spines form geometric patterns across its surface. Its colors range from tan to reddish-brown, with spines that are yellow or dark brown.
The Cushion Sea Star is found on sand and seagrass beds. It feeds on small animals by extending its stomach over them. Juveniles are flatter and display brighter colors compared to adults.
