The Reef Urchin has a dark red to maroon body covered with short, sharp spines. Each spine has a darker tip and a light ring near the base, giving it a banded appearance.
This Urchin is active at night and hides during the day, often squeezing into gaps. It prefers shallow areas but can also be found at greater depths.
