The Hairy Triton has a tan to reddish-brown shell covered in short, bristle-like hairs and raised ridges. The shell opening has white teeth separated by dark brown bands. The mantle is marked with reddish or brown spots.
The Hairy Triton is usually found alone on the reef among the corals. It is a predator that uses its radula, a ribbon-like structure with tiny teeth, to feed on bivalves and other mollusks.
