The Ornate Chiton has a body covered with eight overlapping plates, each shaped with patterns of gray, green, brown, or deep red. The red band around the edge is wide, textured, and may have light spots or thin bands.
This Chiton is also called the Gold-flecked Chiton. Chitons attach to rocks or other hard surfaces. They can tolerate being exposed to air during low tides and show a wide range of color patterns.
