The Brown Encrusting Octopus Sponge has reddish-brown to brown tubes with many raised openings that are surrounded by lighter edges. It often forms long, connected arms or spreads across large areas. Its surface is uneven and has a velvety texture.
This Sponge covers dead coral by growing over it and by creating long, branching arms.
