The Orange Icing Sponge is bright orange and grows as a thin layer over corals, featuring large raised openings that have thin translucent rims with white streaks, though in protected areas specimens can appear white, and it often forms wavy patterns along coral edges.
This Sponge grows on hard surfaces, including the underside and edges of plate-type corals and sometimes boulders. It creates a textured surface and integrates closely with the coral structure.
