This Sponge forms a red to orange covering on Coral and rocky surfaces. Its large, raised openings often have a lighter edge around them. The Sponge’s surface may show small bumps and is often partly covered by Zoanthids.
The Red Boring Sponge attaches to dead Coral skeletons and gradually breaks them down into fine sand.
