The Springer's Blenny has a body that is pale red with faint diamond-shaped bars and blotches. It has a large black spot on its back just before the tail and no cirri above its eyes.

The Springer's Blenny is shy and quickly retreats for cover when disturbed.

Springer's Blenny belongs to the Smootheye Shy Blenny Complex (Starksia atlantica complex). A specimen from Bonaire is featured in the Reef Fish Identification book, 4th edition, on page 335.
