This Flounder has a flattened body with numerous bright blue rings and spots. It has a notch above the lips and a long, sometimes erect, pectoral fin. Its color can change to blend with the seafloor.

The Peacock Flounder is found on sandy areas or rubble. It stays motionless on the seafloor, but moves away when disturbed.
