This Scorpionfish has a mottled body in shades of brown or reddish-brown and spotted fins. A dark blotch or spots are often visible on the rear dorsal fin.
The Reef Scorpionfish hides in crevices, under ledges, or beneath coral. It has venomous spines on its dorsal fin and remains still unless disturbed.
