The Conger Eel has a stout body and a short, rounded snout. Its tail is blunt, and its dorsal and anal fins are continuous with the tail.
This Eel is found on sandy areas near the reef. It stays hidden beneath the sand and only sticks its head out when it gets dark. Without a full view of the entire body, it is difficult to identify the exact species. On Bonaire, these Eels could be Margintail Conger Eels or Bandtooth Conger Eels.
