The Wahoo has a long, streamlined body and a sharply pointed snout. It is bright silver to silver-gray, with a dark blue back. Dark vertical bars may appear, especially when stressed. It has nine small dorsal finlets and a deeply forked tail.
The Wahoo is mainly an open-water fish, although it may pass over offshore coral areas.
On Bonaire, Wahoo is highly sought after by fishermen and is often served as the catch of the day in restaurants. Divers and snorkelers may find Wahoo remains in shallow water near town, where fish waste is sometimes dumped.
