The Red Fanworm has a fan-shaped crown that forms a curved, horseshoe shape. Its hard white operculum sticks out from the tube and often has sponge or algae growing on its tip. Around its opening is a white ring with about twenty rounded red bumps.
This Tube Worm lives fixed in one place. When disturbed, it quickly pulls its fan back inside its tube for protection.
